On the travel side of her expertise, her writing is featured in international media outlets including CNN International, CNN Travel, Fodor’s, Lonely Planet, Forbes Travel, Wine Enthusiast, enRoute and more. In 2012, she began publishing her own travel blog, Travel Greece, Travel Europe, which focuses on the beauty of travel across Greece and Europe. Since then it has been awarded recognition as a Top 25 European Travel Blog. She is also a proud member of the Society of American Travel Writers which is an organization of the most experienced and influential journalists in the travel industry.
On the tech side of her career, she has worked with major brands to produce blog and web content. As an expert technology blog writer, she has written for various tech companies including IBM, Kaspersky, Veracode and Electric Cloud. As a seasoned high-tech PR professional, she managed media relations for IBM in San Francisco where she led international press and influencer campaigns as well as product PR. During her tenure at IBM, she was recognized for her PR campaign work and achieved substantial placements in industry press and international media outlets.
There’s also a creative writing side to her accomplishments. She is the author of the romantic comedy/contemporary women’s fiction novel, Chasing Athens, which reached the top 10 best sellers rank in several Amazon categories when it was first released in 2014.
Marissa started out her communications career in the news industry. As an award-winning journalist, Marissa has worked across the United States as a TV reporter and anchor in Florida, Washington state and upstate New York. She has also worked in newsrooms in Los Angeles and London.
In 2000, Marissa graduated cum laude from the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College with a degree in journalism and a minor in politics.
Marissa is a proud New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. However, she loves the vast beauty of the West Coast and decided to move to Seattle, Washington after spending significant time living abroad in Europe. She admits that part of her heart will always be in Athens, Greece — where she lived for eight years.
